We’re creating an original WebSynergetics design in Astro. We’ll build the working service website first, then develop a reusable theme from that real project.
A design that fits the work
The site gives equal prominence to web and community services and broader business and organizational operations. Advocacy and organizational support run through both. Websites, publishing and connected communities sit alongside membership management, member services, information organization and workflows—supported by consulting, hands-on implementation and ongoing support.
The WebSynergetics name and original faceted logo were inspired by Buckminster Fuller’s Synergetics. The new layouts, typography, colors and geometric illustrations carry that interest in the relationships between the parts and the whole into the website.
Our working philosophy is a practical one: “Pound the nails with the whole house in mind.” Each page needs to work on its own and contribute to a useful, coherent site.
From a working site to a reusable theme
The immediate work is to make the service website clear, accessible and useful, and refine it through actual use. That experience will help us decide what belongs in the reusable theme. Its name, release scope and distribution are still open.
Astro provides the framework. The earlier prototype used Hans Martens’s Astro Rocket, which grew out of Southwell Media’s Velocity. We retain attribution for material we reuse while developing the WebSynergetics layouts and styles.
